The 1981 Springbok Tour of New Zealand was a major historical event that involved much protest. Much of this protest was to do with the apartheid regime dominating South Africa at the time.
These protests had many causes and effects, many of which are outlined in this website, as well as several key people and groups who helped to generate change in New Zealand.
The Springbok Tour unearthed a more politically conscious generation who were more willing to create social change through protesting about issues that were significant to them.
The Springbok Tour may have not directly brought about societal change in New Zealand, but it was a step in the right direction, as seen by the 'Significance to New Zealand' page.
